On Saturday, August 22, 50% tariffs imposed under Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930, 19 U.S.C. § 1338, on approximately $20 billion of Canadian goods imported annually took effect after negotiations between the United States and Canada to stave them off collapsed on Friday evening.
