Sweden Calls for Delay and Renegotiation of EU Pay Transparency Directive
BLOG OVERVIEW: In March 2026, the Swedish government announced plans to delay domestic implementation of the EU Pay Transparency Directive (2023/970) and is pushing the European Commission to renegotiate the Directive to reduce administrative burden on employers. Under the revised Swedish proposal, national legislation would take effect on January 1, 2027, and the first pay gap reports would be due to the Equality Ombudsman on May 20, 2028, roughly six to twelve months later than originally...
