In yet another abrupt reversal of course with respect to Iran, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, at the direction of President Trump, has launched Operation Economic Outcast, which it describes as “an unprecedented, whole-of-government, economic campaign against the Islamic Republic of Iran and its enablers.” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has commented that “America is no longer managing the Iranian threat.
