At Sripetch Oral Argument, Supreme Court Weighs the Future of SEC Disgorgement

On April 20, 2026, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral argument in Sripetch v. SEC to consider the limits of the SEC’s authority to seek disgorgement of a securities law violator’s ill-gotten gains. Disgorgement is a critical tool for the SEC’s enforcement efforts.
